The Portsmouth and District Magic Circle is regularly involved in charity work in various forms. Although we do raise money for other charities, our charity of choice is the Naomi House Children's Hospice, which opened in June 1997 to provide respite care, terminal care and bereavement support for children and families from across the south of England.

The latest fund raising event was organised by our very own member Sean Lobban, who with a team of others walked from Portsmouth to London via other magical societies and raised in excess of £6,500.00 for the Anthony Nolan Trust! More details below.

June 2009 - The Magic Trek

A Sponsored Walk From Portsmouth To London, 5th May to 10th May 2009. They visited magic clubs and societies on the way raising almost £6,500.00 for the Anthony Nolan Trust.

Sean says, "The aim of The Magic Trek was to raise £5000 for The Anthony Nolan Trust. And I'm very pleased to say that we reached that target."

Day 1: The Magic Trek began in Portsmouth from the home of The Portsmouth & District Magic Circle on Tuesday 5th May. On that day, Magicians, Children's Entertainers and Magic Club Members walked to the home of The Associated Wizards of the South in Southampton (about 17.5 miles).
Day 2: The next day, Wednesday 6th May, they walked from Southampton to the home of The Winchester Magical Society (about 13 miles).
Day 3: On Thursday 7th May they walked from Winchester to The Magicians of Basingstoke (around 19 miles).
Day 4: And the following day, Friday 8th May, it was on to Reading to see The Home Counties Magical Society (about 16 miles).
Day 5: Windsor (Queen Victoria's Statue!) was the next destination on Saturday 9th May (about 19 miles).
Day 6: On the last day of The Magic Trek, Sunday 10th May, they finished in London at The Magic Circle Headquarters (around 22 miles).

The approximate total distance of The Magic Trek was 106 miles!
